This five (5) day training course is offered in support of the Safe Drinking Water Act and Virginia Waterworks Regulations. It is designed to prepare participants to test, inspect, and provide in-line maintenance of reduced pressure zone and other backflow prevention devices. Training includes both classroom and hands-on instruction with actual devices.

Join the VWEA | VA AWWA Sustainable Utilities Committee for a webinar on the innovative program being implemented by Loudoun Water to convert retired quarry pits, previously operated by Luck Stone, into strategic water supply reservoirs. These quarries will serve as raw water storage facilities for the Trap Rock Water Treatment Plant. This initiative aims to ensure a reliable water supply for Loudoun Water’s customers during periods when the Potomac River experiences drought conditions and cannot fully meet water demands in the region. Loudoun Water will provide an overview of the challenges faced in initiating and implementing the program, the necessary permits involved, and the strategic benefits of this significant program.

Join the VA AWWA Education Committee and experts in the field for a panel discussion on how to reduce the likelihood of violence towards our field staff during customer interactions such as shut-offs or maintenance.

Save the date for the Utility Management Committee for a one-day seminar in Glen Allen. Shaping the Future of Utility Management will include sessions on Asset Management, Effective Utility Management, One Water, and Workforce Development. Each topic will address issues for both small and large utilities. More details to come so check back in the coming weeks.

The VA AWWA Plant Operations Committee proudly announces the 25th Annual Plant Operators Conference to be held April 30 - May 2nd in Virginia Beach, VA. This conference is dedicated to promoting education and training, increasing performance and fostering communication among waterworks operators, maintenance and management personnel. Attendance is recommended for waterworks operators of both small and large groundwater and surface water systems. Come match wits against fellow operators in the Top Ops Competition or cheer for your favorites.
