Virginia Section AWWA would like to give a heartfelt shout-out to Roger Arnold, PE.  When Roger isn't working as a Senior Associate and Project Manager/Technical Lead at Hazen and Sawyer covering areas of water supply, quality, and treatment design - He is the Chair of the Drinking Water Quality and Research Committee. 
 
After an extended period of offering the Drinking Water Quality Conference as a virtual platform due to Covid, Roger lead the committee back to in-person events at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden with great success.  With a Degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech along with a Professional Engineering License with the State, we are fortunate to have Roger as the lead for this ever-changing and important committee.
 
Roger - We want to take this opportunity to Thank You for being an Awesome Member of the Virginia Section!

Source Water Protection Week

AWWA invites water utilities, sections, and other partners to join the Association in recognizing Source Water Protection Week from Sept. 25-Oct. 1, 2022.

 

Why Source Water Protection Week? The best way to assure we have high-quality drinking water at the tap is to protect our beautiful water sources. If we keep our rivers, lakes, and underground wells free from pollution, it's easier and less expensive to keep water safe and healthy.

 

Throughout the week, we will raise awareness about the importance of caring for our beautiful drinking water sources. Source Water Protection Week materials are now available.

WaterJAM 2023 - Join the WaterJAM Committee
WaterJAM is recognized as a premier water professional conference on the East Coast. Our 2022 event had record-breaking attendance of more than 2,000 registrants and 211 participating exhibitors. WaterJAM is a conference that offers 10 concurrent technical sessions on water, wastewater, stormwater, and management topics - something for everyone.  It also offers many social and networking events and activities to keep it fun, all of which takes a lot of work and volunteers to make a successful WaterJAM happen. 
 
Like the saying a teacher’s work is never done, the same can be said for the WaterJAM committee.  We are already working on the planning of WaterJAM 2023 and are looking for new volunteers to join our committee.   Are you a person who likes to plan events, a creative artist, or someone keen on details? The WaterJAM committee has several volunteer positions and tasks requiring someone to take charge. We would like to hear (and share) your story!

As Water Professionals, each of us has unique experiences that make us different and shape how we show up to perform our work every day.  Share an experience where you felt included (or excluded) in the water industry and how that impacted you/your career.
 
We want you to record a 20-60 second video that can be compiled with your colleagues to make our combined DEI Story!  Your video will be shared during Virginia Section AWWA events to highlight the value of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) across the water industry.
 
There are three ways to share your story...
1.) Record a video with your phone and then click here to upload it.
2.) Click here to go online and record your video using your computer.
2.) Stop by the membership table during WaterJam, and we will record it with you.
