Water Treatment Plant Trainee

The Town of Rocky Mount is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Trainee. 
 
The duties of this position under the supervision of a certified treatment plant operator or supervisor are not limited to
  • service pumps, valves, motors, controls, and other plant equipment. 
  • Monitor treatment processes.
  • Perform required laboratory tests, analyses, inspect and wash filters, tanks, and screens.
  • Maintain logs of operational controls and maintenance.
Obtaining a WTP Class III Operator license is expected within 18 months of the date of employment and a Class II within 30 months of employment. 
 
Excellent fringe benefits. The Town offers a grade/step pay system. This job will start on Pay Grade 8, with grade-level increases for each licensure achieved. The Town provides health dental and vision, with full coverage for employees only. The Town participates in the VRS retirement system and offers an additional voluntary retirement plan. Residency in Franklin County is required within one year of employment.
