What You’ll Be Doing
This highly technical position provides direction, management, oversight, and guidance to the maintenance and operations of the Town’s water meter and customer related field services program for the Department of Utilities. Provides direction, supervision, and assistance of the metering facilities, staff, equipment, and operational and customer service processes. Oversees and is responsible for utility read capture, data accuracy and analysis, equipment, and schedules in accordance with the Town’s utility billing program. Work is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold and heat, noise, vibration and potentially hazardous working conditions, such as confined spaces, ditches, and traffic areas.
Minimum Qualifications:  
Possession of a high school diploma (or GED equivalent). Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in the management and operations of a utility meter and/or field services program; or any combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential duties; this should include a broad range of leadership, supervisory and/or analytical data review experience. Thorough knowledge of the tools, materials, and techniques utilized for meter reading operations. Basic knowledge of computers; proficiency in MS Word and Excel; knowledge of PowerPoint and databases. Ability to learn and follow Town policies and regulations. Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Confined space training or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment. VDOT Flagging Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment. CPR and First Aid Certifications or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
