The Water Pollution Control Division (WPCDis responsible for the safe and efficient treatment of wastewater generated within the Leesburg service area and the subsequent stabilization and disposal of the solid wastes produced to ensure the protection of public health and the environment. The WPCD is seeking an entry-level or journey-level Utility Plant Operator or Biosolids Operator.

What You’ll Be Doing
Utility Plant Operator: this position involves entry-level or journey-level hands-on technical work in the operation, maintenance and cleaning of the wastewater treatment plant and other related facilities and equipment. Work involves reading and recording gauges, instruments, and meters; regulating valves; drawing samples; maintaining accurate records; performing tests; and maintaining plant facilities, equipment and grounds; and other manual labor work. 

Biosolids Operator: this position involves entry-level or journey-level hands-on technical work in the operation, maintenance and cleaning of solids processing facilities, systems and equipment. Work involves reading and recording gauges, instruments, and meters, positioning valves, adjusting pumping rates; drawing and field analyzing samples, retrieving analyses results of others, maintaining accurate bench sheets, checklists and log sheets. Work also includes pellet spreader truck loading and bagging operations associated with pellet distribution and marketing; and other manual labor work.
 
Minimum Qualifications
HS/GED; ability to obtain a Class IV Wastewater Operator License within 18 months of employment; ability to obtain a Class III Wastewater Operator License within three and a half (3.5) years of employment; possession of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record; certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment; knowledge in MS Suite applications and computer program applications appropriate to the position; available and able to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends and holidays); Biosolids Operator positions require the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License- Class B within six (6) months to one (1) year of employment dependent upon Operator classification, and require the ability to obtain Forklift Certification within one (1) year of employment.
