What You Do and How You Do It
The Utilities Engineer will serve within the development section as project manager for proposals pertaining to the expansion, development, and planning of the county’s public water and wastewater systems.
 
  • You will work as part of a project team to review the impacts of proposed development on the existing water and wastewater systems
  • Review site and subdivision construction plans, zoning requests, and other community development applications for compliance with county, state, and federal requirements
  • Evaluate water distribution and wastewater collection systems using computer hydraulic models, field data, and standard engineering practices
  • Prepare and review reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and contracts
  • Interact with the public and collaborate with other agencies, consulting firms, and internal/external customers
  • Host or attend meetings and presentations with diverse groups of internal and external customers pertaining to the expansion of the public water and wastewater systems
  • Perform other work as required
 Here’s What You Need
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering or a related field; three years of engineering experience in water or wastewater systems; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Engineering -In-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) designation preferred. Applicants with less than the minimum qualifications may be considered for a trainee status.
 
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, possess a strong technical aptitude, and have excellent technical writing and oral communication skills. Additionally, candidate will have knowledge of water and wastewater modeling, proficient in Microsoft Office applications, be a team player, and have the ability to develop positive working relationships.
 
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

The hiring range for this position is $56,981 - $77,141.
