Chesterfield County Government is seeking a Principal Automation Analyst to analyze the Department of Utilities' information needs and make recommendations for improvements. Develop, interpret and support relational database solutions in a Microsoft SQL Server environment that address critical business functions or needs for the department. Support system expansions/updates/upgrades. Coordinate the work effort of outside support vendors in the ongoing maintenance and upgrades to the department's various systems. Includes management and oversight of various size and scope projects. Provide troubleshooting and technical support in order to ensure that technology adheres to system development methodology and policies, procedures, laws and regulations. Identify and troubleshoot SQL code-related issues. Extract data, present data, and put data into spreadsheets; create, modify and test various SQL queries, stored procedures, views for obtaining data, and create and modify existing SSRS reports. Create consistent and accurate technical documentation of implemented applications, databases, and systems. Train and mentor other analysts and assist in the research and implementation of best practices for the department's database environment including maintenance issues, operation requirements, disaster recovery, and security. Collaborate with IST on network, software, and server hardware needs and changes. Implement and support cybersecurity initiatives for department's systems. Hiring Range: $75,464 - $115,809

Successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or similar field with a minimum of three years of experience in computer field with experience geared relational database environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience with an emphasis on technical and business analysis. Transact SQL (T-SQL) experience in both creating and maintaining queries, views, and stored procedures in a multi database environment required.

Experience in relational database design, data analysis, and security, as well as, developing, testing, and maintaining reporting processes (SQL Server Reporting Services/SSRS). Ability to handle common database procedures such as an upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc., with experience in creating SQL Server database objects such as tables, views, procedures, functions, and triggers. Must have ability to develop and organize high quality technical system documentation. Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects; excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to identify, research and recommend equipment and/or software improvements and upgrades.
