This three (3) day training course is offered in support of the Safe Drinking Water Act and Virginia Waterworks Regulations. It is designed to prepare participants to test, inspect, and provide in-line maintenance of reduced pressure zone and other backflow prevention devices. Training includes both classroom and hands-on instruction with actual devices.

Water and Wastewater Operators with 7+ years experience**
 
Successful completion of this class satisfies the requirement for someone with more than 7 years of work experience “in a water distribution system”, as verified by their employer, to “sit” for the state exam. More information can be found on the DPOR website:  https://www.dpor.virginia.gov/Boards/Tradesmen .  
 
This class moves very fast and assumes prior knowledge. 
Less experienced individuals should consider the 40 hour class.

What to Expect
Light breakfast items and snacks will be provided each day.  Lunch will be provided on the first two days.  The first two days of class are full days of classroom and lab instruction. These days generally run 8:30-5, but the class may elect to start and end earlier.  On the last day, students will complete both hands-on and written testing. This generally wraps up around noon. Students should plan to wear shoes that can get wet and dress for a little splash. Depending on the weather and time of year, the wet lab may be indoors or outside under shelter. Participants will be asked to study/review on their own each evening.

Instructor
Classroom and hands-on instruction will be provided by Frank Kelsey. Frank is a former instructor for the Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association.
