Introducing Future Leaders to the Water Industry
2026 Application Deadline: April 17th
What is InFLOW?
InFLOW stands for Introducing Future Leaders to Opportunities in Water and was conceived by the Water Environment Federation to introduce promising students from underrepresented groups to water industry careers.
VWEA and VA AWWA’s InFLOW program promotes diversity and inclusion by engaging participants in events and networking that strengthen interest, employment opportunities, and long-term success in the water sector.
Students are introduced to the water industry through virtual and in-person programming, including a workshop focused on:
- Personal branding and professional confidence
- Networking, resumes, and professional communication
- Articulating value and career goals
Students attend the VWEA & VA AWWA Joint Annual Meeting (WaterJAM) at no cost, including travel, lodging, registration, and meals.
InFLOW invites sophomore and junior students from historically underrepresented groups attending Virginia colleges to:
- Attend technical sessions and the exhibit hall
- Participate in social and young professional events
- Network with water industry professionals
- Explore careers in the water sector
Each participant receives a 3-day WaterJAM agenda and must attend a virtual orientation and post-event survey to help improve future programs.
What’s Included for InFLOW Students at WaterJAM:
- Travel to and from the conference
- Hotel accommodations (up to two nights)
- Conference registration and exhibit access
- All meals and networking receptions
