| As a joint committee
of VA AWWA and the Virginia
Water Environment Association (VWEA) , the Accident
Prevention & Safety Committee strives to promote safety
in the water and wastewater industries. For example, the
committee frequently provides
safety exhibits at VA AWWA and VWEA conferences. At the
2005 Distribution Seminar and Utility Rodeo, the Accident
Prevention & Safety Committee made presentations on
entering confined spaces and making the workplace safe through
awareness. During 2006, the Accident Prevention & Safety
Committee sponsored a joint Safety & Security Conference
with the Security Committee.
In addition to these educational activities, this committee
administers programs to recognize water and wastewater utilities
with excellent safety records.
