The Management Institute Schlolarship
This scholarship, established in 1988, may be given
annually to employees of water systems with less than 5,000 connections.
The following is a description of the general guidelines for this
scholarship:
a. Name of Scholarship:
The Management Institute Scholarship
b. Nature of Scholarship:
The scholarship shall consist of funds to cover the cost of
room, board, and tuition to attend either the AWWA Water Utility
Management Institute or the AWWA Water Utility Advanced Institute
sponsored by Virginia Tech's College of Business and Division
of Continuing Education. Availability of the scholarship is
to be published in the December Newsletter. Availability of
the scholarship is subject to request and inclusion in the Section's
annual budget or by special vote of the Board of Trustees.
c. Qualifications of Recipient:
The recipient must be an employee of a Virginia water system
with less than 5,000 connections and must have been employed
by the water system for at least five years.
d. Selection Procedure:
All nominations shall be in writing and shall indicate the
candidate's qualifications and economic need for the scholarship.
Nominations must be submitted to the Chair of the Water Utility
Committee at least 60 days prior to the start of the Management
Institute.
Candidates may nominate themselves or be nominated by a follow
employee or by a member of the Virginia Section.
The Selection Committee shall consist of the Chair, Vice-Chair,
and three other members of the Water Utility Committee.
e. Presentation:
The scholarship shall be presented by the Water Utility Committee
Chair 30 days prior to the Management Institute registration
date.
