Water Reuse Committee


Objective:

To collect and disseminate information concerning present and future technological, financial, and social impacts of and needs for water reuse projects in the Commonwealth of Virginia . Further, the committee will recommend specific programs or actions for joint or separate implementation by VA Section AWWA and VWEA for educating the membership and the public, adopting Association position statements or policy, and influencing public policy.

Membership:

The Chair and Vice-Chair of the committee are appointed jointly by the leadership of VA AWWA and VWEA . Other members are recommended by the Chair/Vice-Chair and approved by the VA AWWA and VWEA leadership. All committee members must belong to either VA AWWA or VWEA , but are not required to belong to both. It is recommended that the Chair and Vice-Chair belong to both organizations. The Chair and Vice-Chair will serve terms of office as specified by the Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations.

Duties:

     The following duties are assigned to the Committee Chair:

a.   Recruit a committee comprised of members of VA AWWA and VWEAmembers.

b.   Personally contact each committee member to verify that he/she will serve on the committee.

c.   Adhere to guidelines set forth in the general policies for committees (Section IIIA of the Handbook).

     The following duties are assigned to the Committee:

a.   Conduct an inventory of current practices in water reuse in Virginia , and assess potential for other reuse applications.

b.   Disseminate information to the membership of VA AWWA and VWEA regarding the current state of the art and recent developments in water reuse.

c.   Use VA AWWA and VWEA newsletters and web pages to update association members of committee activities.

d.   Participate in special sessions on water reuse at the annual meetings of VA AWWA and VWEA .

e.   Conduct specialty workshops in support of committee activities.

f.   Research and make recommendations to the Board of each organization for the development and adoption of position statements or policies concerning water reuse.
