Student Activities Committee


Objective:

To enhance student knowledge and interest in the water and wastewater fields. The committee will encourage student membership and participation in VA AWWA and VWEA activities.

Membership:

The Chair and Vice-Chair of this committee are appointed by the VA AWWA Chair and VWEA president. Other committee members are chosen from the memberships at large, recommended by the Chair of the committee. All committee members must be members of either VA AWWA or VWEA , but are not required to belong to both. The Chair and Vice Chair will serve terms as specified by the Memorandum of Understanding between these two organizations.

Duties:

     The following duties are assigned to this committee:

a.   Encourage students and faculty to become active members of VWEA and VA AWWA.

b.   Insure that colleges and universities are made aware of the opportunities for student presentations and of the criteria for the Student Paper Awards that are given to one presenter at each organization's Annual Meeting.

c.   Encourage participation of students and faculty in VA AWWA and VWEA activities.

d.   Administer the Student Paper Award that is given at the VA AWWA and VWEA Annual Meetings.

e.   Provide reports and information to the Boards of VWEA /VA AWWA as necessary and appropriate.

f.   Provide appropriate information regarding student activities to Association newsletters.

g.   Adhere to guidelines set forth in the general policies for committees (Section IIIA of the Handbook).
