Plant Operations


Objective:

The objective of the Plant Operations Committee is to promote education and training, increase professionalism, and foster communication among water treatment plant administrative, operational, and maintenance personnel.

Membership:

The Chair of this committee is appointed by the VA Section Board of Trustees. Other, committee members are recommended by the Chair of the committee and appointed by the VA Section Chair.

Technical & Standards Council

Duties:

     The following annual duties are assigned to the committee Chair:

a.      Select and recommend VA Section members for appointment to the committee.
b.      Personally contact each prospective committee member to ascertain that they will serve.
c.      Report the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of committee members to the Board of Trustees at their winter meeting.

d.      Submit a report to the Trustees, prior to their winter meeting, outlining proposed activities and annual budget for the committee.

e.      Prepare and present, at the VA Section annual business meeting, a report outlining the committee's achievements during the past year.

f .      Provide a list of all planned committee activities for the coming calendar year to the Chair of the Education Committee by the first of December each year. This in no way restricts the committee from adding new activities during the calendar year.

     The following duties are assigned to the committee:

a.      Develop and sponsor an annual training and education program, including an annual Plant Operations Seminar, directed at all levels of water treatment plant personnel. The dates and general content, including target audiences, for all such programs shall be coordinated with the VA Section Education Committee.

b.      Provide pertinent information to the Newsletter Editor, by established deadlines, for inclusion in the VA Section Newsletter.

c.      Promote the inclusion of water treatment operations related topics at the annual meeting.
d.      Encourage and recruit all levels of water treatment operations personnel to join AWWA and participate in programs offered by the VA Section.

e.      Recommend awardee for the Edward R. Ruehl Operator of the Year Award, from pool of nominations, to the Section Secretary.
