Committee
Objective:
To select qualified nominees to serve as officers of the VA
Section - AWWA and promote Virginia Section candidates to serve
on National Committees.
Membership:
This committee consists of the Director and the three (3) most
recent Past-Chairs of the VA Section. The Chair of this committee
is the senior Past-Chair.
Alternate Committee Members:
If an officer nominee is also a member of the Nominations Committee,
the individual shall withdraw from future deliberations and
selections regarding the office for which he/she is nominated.
The committee member would continue to serve on the committee
and would be eligible to vote for the other officer nominees
during the selection process.
If one or more committee members become nominated and withdraw
from the selection process, the vacant positions on the committee
shall be filled as follows:
a. The first alternate committee member shall be
the VA Section Chair.
b. The second alternate committee member shall
be the immediate past Director.
c. The third alternate committee member shall be
the Secretary.
Alternate committee members are only eligible to vote for the
officer nominee position which required their ad hoc appointment
to the committee.

Duties:
The Committee each year will nominate two (2) candidates for
the office of Trustee. Commencing in October 1995, and every
third year thereafter, the Committee will nominate a candidate
for the office of Treasurer. Commencing in October 1996, and
every third year thereafter, the committee will nominate a candidate
for the office of Secretary. Consideration shall be given to
their past interest in VA Section activities, their ability
to serve, and the geographical area they represent.
The candidate for chair-Elect, commencing in October 1997,
shall be nominated by the Committee after polling the Board
of Trustees and the chairs of all standing committees of the
Section except Finance and Fuller Award.
The committee will provide the Board of Trustees and committee
chairs a list of eligible candidates after determining their
willingness to serve if elected. The committee will determine
the criteria for eligibility. Each member of the Board of Trustees
and committee chairs will submit to the chair of the Nominations
Committee their choice for Chair-Elect.
The Committee, commencing in October 1996, and every third
year thereafter, will receive from an ad hoc Committee the nominee's
name for the office of Director, whose term commences at the
conclusion of the Annual Conference and Exposition the following
June. (Article VI, Section 2 of the By-laws.)
The Nomination Committee will commence their task of selecting
nominees by January. The committee will meet via telephone or
in person and finalize their selection by no later than August
1.
