Distribution System Committee


Objective:

To promote education and training, increase professionalism and foster open communication among water utility personnel responsible for operating and maintaining water distribution systems.

Membership:

The Chair of this committee is appointed by the Board of Trustees. Other committee members are recommended by the Chair of the committee and appointed by the VA Section Chair.

Member of:

Technical and Standards Council

Duties:

     The following duties are assigned to this committee Chair:

a.   Select a committee comprised of VA Section members to serve on the committee.

b.   Personally contact each committee member to verify that he/she will serve on the committee.

c.   Provide pertinent information to the Newsletter Editor for inclusion in the Newsletter.

d.   Develop and sponsor an annual Distribution System Seminar directed at all levels of utility operation and maintenance personnel.

e.   Promote the inclusion of water distribution system operations and maintenance-related topics at the annual meeting.

f.   Encourage distribution system personnel to join AWWA and participate in programs offered by the VA Section.

g.   Adhere to guidelines set forth in the general policies for committees (Section IIIA of Handbook).
