Board of Trustees Responsibilities

A. General

The purpose of this section of the Handbook is to explain in detail what each VA Section officer and employee is responsible for and to assist the officers and employees of the VA Section in their efforts to carry out these assigned responsibilities.

The By-Laws of the Virginia Section, American Water Works Association, state in Article 7, Section 7.2 that the officers of the Section shall be as follows:

a) The Chair
b) The Chair-Elect
c) The Secretary
d) The Treasurer
e) The Director, who shall be the Virginia Section's representative on the Association's Board of Directors
f) The Past Chair, who shall be the last living Past Chair of the VA Section who is not holding another office listed in this article
g) Four or more Trustees (as deemed necessary for proper functioning of the Virginia Section).

Article 7, Section 7.2, of the By-Laws states that the governing body of the Section shall consist of the following officers and trustees, hereinafter called the "Board of Trustees," each of whom shall be a member of the VA Section in good standing.

In addition, the Section Administrator, serving as an employee of the Section, will sit as an “ex officio” member of the Board, with voice but no vote.
